We had a room at the top with a view of the promenade deck. You can see the car we used down the hall. The dining room would have been great but the lighting was a little dark. Sometimes you can get into the dining room and other rooms when they are setting up. We took some great shots on our Disney cruise of all the dining rooms when they were closed for service. We did not dress up on that cruise. We then start looking outside and that can be a little tricky. I did not line up some shots the way I would like to. You see the old ships did not have the big orange life boats back then. So I had to edit a little orange out or fix it. We should have taken more pictures on a different day because when you get home and start looking at them you will only use about 8% of them. When I was doing photography we would use film and you have to crop the picture right there. You also had to adjust the lighting by using f-stops. So with using a phone you just have to play around with the settings or take a lot of pictures and fix them when you get home. One thing were are starting to do is make sure we have the right glasses on or make sure the tie is straight. We can’t see too well without our real glasses.

Welcome

Vintage Cruising on today’s ships

We started out on the Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas in November 2015. We then took another cruise with Norwegian on the Getaway in January 2017. Vintage Cruising s.s. Rotterdam was in 2018. You can see more on that page. We are trying to do more and hope others will join us. At first we got up early so everyone else on the ship is sleeping in and we would have the place to ourselves. The only people you will find up early are people that love to watch the sunrise and they like to get some coffee and relax without all of the noise. So we started down the hall and then onto the elevator to the promenade deck. The first night on the ship we started to make some notes on what would look vintage. Some of the ships have old cars on the promenade deck. The lounges on the side of the ship have nice old looking chairs or just things on the walls. Just look around and you will find plenty of places. We had some friends with us but they do not dress up. They do like to get up very early. So we had someone that could take the picture on the Freedom of the Seas. We also set up a shot with the balcony overlooking the center of the ship. Our photographer was on the other balcony shooting across the ship. It worked fine.

Food is always a must.

They look like they just went out to

dinner. She is now ready for the

show in the grand theater.

Isn’t love grand on the

grand staircase?

Hiding out from the view of the public.

The balcony shot. It came out very nice I think.
