Dapper Day

April 28th and 29th 2018

Here is a story you will not believe. She said that the dress was online for sale and the lady selling it was the daughter of the lady that wore the dress years ago. The daughter said her mother is in her 90's and she said it was time to sell some of her clothes. This dress came with these gloves and other pairs a well. The dress was worn at Disneyland in California and the lady met Walt Disney when sew was wearing this dress. The online price was under $50.00.
Joanie made her dress and had to make the piping detail from scratch. We think it turned out pretty nicely. We got really lucky and found navy gloves and the navy belt to match. Of course, we had to have a matching hat, so Ray made most of it and Joanie finished it and added the final details. We work well as a team. As usual, Ray made the Dapper Day buttons, and the American flag pin. We can proudly say that Ray had made his vest for a previous function, and he also made his pocket square to go with his vintage bow tie. Giving away pins seems to have become a theme for Dapper Day events, so he is wearing several pins that were designed by and given to us by other attendees.
It seems that whenever a group of ladies in pretty dresses gets together, they MUST twirl to show how pretty their dresses look fully extended. Even Joanie got in on the twirl this time. The girls love to show off their dresses and the petticoats underneath. This was a beautiful day to catch that free spirit. Below is our beauty queen, Ann P. She always looks gorgeous.
Some friends we only get to see once or twice a year. Some live out of state and only come for Dapper Day events, and some just work long hours, so we don’t get to see them very often. But it is always a joy to see them when we can.
There are always dapper gentlemen in the crowd. There are never enough of them present in our opinion, but those who do come always look wonderful. We appreciate the time and effort they put into their look, and that so many of them wear three-piece suits in spite of the warmer temperatures.

This square pin was one of the ones that was given to us by Dawnmarie. She and her husband, Richard designed two different pins to give to people who attended Dapper Day.
Brad and Pam are temporary snowbirds who travel to Walt Disney World each year for Dapper Day events. Brad likes to use vintage designs to have these wonderful pins made to give away. Their designs have become very collectible and people usually flock to them when they see them in the park to try and get one of the limited edition pins before they are all gone.
