Many of our friends enjoy swing dancing, and when there is a live band, as there was at the United Kingdom Garden, dancing is sure to break out. The dancing attracts lots of spectators. Often we find new acquaintances because they enjoy the swing dancing also.
We found that dancers come in all ages and sizes. Each dancing couple has their own style, but they are all a pleasure to watch. Dancers often fine other partners to join them for a dance.
Dapper Day also brings out romance. Ray and Joanie were introduced as one of the first kissing couples to be filmed in a group setting. It looks like Daniel and Ann Marie might be quickly replacing them.
Every time a group of friends finds each other, a group photo happens. We always have lots of cameras and several photographers are followers of the Dapper Day crowd.
Jessica is an avid vintage shopper and has a great collection of vintage items. She sometimes has sales to downsize some of her accumulations, and many of our friends have been able to get beautiful hats or dresses from her. In this photo, Ray is carrying an authentic doctor’s bag that Jessica found. It is in very good condition and he was able to purchase it from Jessica for a reasonable price.
Some group photos are planned and orchestrated. Marina is our coordinator for many of the best group shots. On Dapper Day weekends, we often end up with a few people in the photo that we don’t know, but it is OK with us. And often after the formal group photo, tourists will ask if they can get a photo with the group. We all have fun with the opportunities of the day.
Marina is well-known for doing dramatic photobombs of group pictures. Joanie couldn’t resist taking the opportunity to do one of her own, mostly as a tribute to Marina’s signature move.
Sometimes getting a group photo is referred to as trying to herd a bunch of cats. It takes a lot of coordination and direction to get everyone in place where they can be seen by the photographers. These photos just show you how many people are trying to get in place and be instructed as to where to stand for the photo. Once we have all found our spots, the photographers do a countdown so everyone is looking forward and ready for the picture. As you can see from some of the group photos, all of the preparation is worth it when we get such lovely pictures. We appreciate all of the photographers who make this work.
Our friend Ann P. always has to take a selfie with th group once the formal group photo is finished.
Sean does wonderful photos and has begun to take selfies with some of the smaller groups so that people can see how wonderfully he has dressed for the events. Isn’t he dapper?
Candace painted all of the Mickey characters on her skirt by hand. She has done several others, but this is the first time most of us have seen her work, and we were all in awe of how perfect each one was.
Travis is quiet and unassuming, but he travels around the park getting good photos of many people. We love seeing the work of the different photographers.
Ann P and her famous group selfies. We always look forward to seeing her, and being a small part of her selfie.
There are many wonderful photographs posted during Dapper Day weekend. We don’t always know who the photographer was, but we like to be able to show you how special everyone looks during the weekend. Come join the groups! You will be amazed at how friendly everyone is and how happy you will be.
