Ray sewed his jacket.
We showed photos from the Dapper Day at Magic Kingdom where people were signing the material for Marina’s dress. This is the dress she made overnight. It turned out so pretty. She accomplished what she wanted, but throughout the day at Epcot on the second day, she had more people sign the dress. She stopped many strangers along the walkways and asked if they had signed her dress. If they looked confused or said, “no,” she handed them a marker and had them sign it. People responded so enthusiastically. It was fun to watch. The unsigned spots shrunk during the day until, by the time she left the park that evening, most of the material was covered with signatures.
Since Xavier was too young to be able to sign his name, they gave him some fabric paint to dip his hands in, and he left his handprints on the dress.
Yes, Ray and Joanie both sew. Ray sewed his jacket and Joanie sewed her dress. It makes wearing vintage clothing even more fun when you can say that you made it yourself.
Joanie’s faithful photographer husband is never without a vintage camera as a part of his outfit. These cameras actually do work, and he has some black and white film that he uses from time to time to take vintage-looking photos of their outfits.
Strike a pose, Joanie. Ray is at it again.
Jessica and her parents always look perfect. Jessica is an amazing seamstress and costume maker and she sews outfits for very specific eras. Her dad is always so dapper looking and her mother carries the theme perfectly. We had opportunity to visit with them for a while and found out that her mother had been stationed in the Air Force in the town where Joanie grew up.
They have become one of the families that we try our best to find every year for Dapper Day. They wear some of our favorite outfits.
